چکیده

Introduction: Maytenus macrocarpa (MM) "Chuchuhuasi" is a native plant from the Amazon region of South America, widely used in traditional medicine due its anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-tumor properties. However, effects on reproductive physiology male fertility have not been elucidated. Methods: Preclinical experimental study cases controls. Male mice with eight weeks birth were administered orally for 70 days (two spermatogenic cycles) an aqueous extract MM: GC (n = 8) 0 mg / kg body weight (bw) control group treated GT 1000 bw. Later animals euthanized, organs weighted, also motility sperm count recorded. During 60 or 65 treatment, males mated pregnant females sacrificed fourth day pregnancy evaluating development, quality degree blastulation. Results: The weights did differ significantly between two groups (p> 0.05). progressive (32.81 vs. 15.27 ± 4.17% 2.08%) (7.75 0.34 x 106 ml 2.56 0.42 ml) decreased GT, respectively. 87.5% (7/8) produced 15 litters (GC) only 50% (4/8) yields 4 litters. no significant differences found percentage blastocyst stage embryos, good embryos greater than size embryo 0.05) blastoceles. Conclusion: (1000 mg/kl) could possesses anti-reproductive action mice.
